Dance New Amsterdam 2010-2011 RAW Directions Call For Proposals!

 

Dance New Amsterdam’s RAW Material series has been supporting new and emerging artists since 2000. In an effort to create more opportunities for artists at various stages of development, RAW Material has expanded into two distinct programs: RAW Material and RAW Directions.

 

RAW Directions will support the work of five emerging and mid-career choreographers with more than ten years of choreographic experience in the field who wish to bring new work to a live audience, and to experiment with new ways of crafting their work. Dance New Amsterdam will provide:

 

·       An artistic consultant designated by Dance New Amsterdam

·       Full marketing and production support

·       An artist stipend divided into a small commissioning fee and a performance fee

·       Discounted rehearsal space and 10 free hours of space  (Free hours are during January 2011)

·       A marketing workshop for artists and their managers

·       Two informal showings/feedback sessions with the selected artists and the artistic consultant

·       Three performances of a new 15-minute work in DNA’s theater
