PDNYC LLC presenting Punchdrunk's Sleep No More is seeking out Dancers: Punchdrunk's Sleep No More made its American premiere to sold out audiences at American Repertory Theatre in Boston in October 2009. It is a visual, sonic and choreographic site response to Shakepeare’s Macbeth that unfolds across a sprawling secret location. The show is opening in New York in February 2011 and we are looking for brilliant dancers to join our exisiting American cast. Punchdrunk offers performers the opportunity to create and perform within stunning, transformative and immersive environments. We combine a highly intense physical choreographic style with a subtle and intimate theatrical sensibility. The emphasis is on a dance language that is emotionally expressive, develops a narrative and works with the scenography of the site. You don’t perform in a show. Rather, you inhabit a world. The dancers we work with are highly skilled with a magical presence. We are looking for a range of charismatic and dynamic dancers between the ages of 23 – 40, with male and female roles available. This is a a paid position. Skills and experience: Dancers must have excellent contemporary dance technique and partnering skills. Experience and practice in contact improvisation is useful. Strong presence and acting ability essential although this is a non-text based role. A 1-year minimum of professional experience in contemporary dance and theatre is a must. Dance experience and interest in musical theatre is not applicable.
