Call for Tap and Jazz Choreographers

 
Undertoe Dance Project (a tap and jazz fusion company) is currently accepting submissions from choreographers working in the genres of tap dance and jazz dance for inclusion in the first Undertoe Dance Festival.  The Festival will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the prestigious 92nd Street Y Buttenweiser Hall.  Undertoe’s mission is to create dance that is innovative, exciting, and accessible to both novice and veteran arts enthusiasts. Participation in the Undertoe Dance Festival will provide visibility and exposure to choreographers that are working in the two dance genres that comprise Undertoe.  The application deadline is March 11, 2011.  To submit your work for consideration:

1) Complete the Application Form (available at www.undertoedance.com/festival.html).
2) Submit a video of the work you wish to present on DVD or send a link to an online video site (ie: YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc).
3) Choreographer bio/resume and (if applicable) company bio/history.
4) Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) if you would like your materials returned.

Group pieces can be up to 8 minutes in length, solo pieces can be up to 4 minutes in length.  Please only submit completed works for consideration as we are not currently presenting works-in-progress.  Rehearsal footage is acceptable.

This particular venue is has a low-tech setup.  Please submit a piece that maybe presented in a lights up/lights down atmosphere to music that is in MP3 format to be played back on an iPod.

There is currently no pay available for selected choreographers, but as payment for your artistry, you will receive both a DVD video of your piece and a CD of images from our professional videographer and photographer.
