AUDITION NOTICE

The Man Who Wasn’t There – by FT Collaborative

The Man Who Wasn’t There is a dance-theater piece inspired by folktale and myth traditions. It follows one mans journey for connection and purpose.

Official Selection in the Edmonton International Fringe Festival

6 performances in Edmonton, Canada between August 16-26
NYC showings during July and August
Possible future run

Seeks dancers/actors with diverse performance experience, especially:
Strong modern and contemporary technique
Experience and ability to work with text
Interest in creating and improvising with an ensemble
Musical background (vocal and/or instrumental) and additional skills a plus

Character descriptions:
MAN (20-30) Protagonist. Comfortable as a soloist. Excellent partnering skills.
WISE MAN (30-60) Gravitas. Refined movement. Works out of stillness.
MOTHER (Age Variable) Grounded. Weighted quality. Works well with stillness.
FRIEND (Age Variable) Animalistic movement quality. Persuasive.
LOVER (Age Variable) Ephemeral. Flowing. Movement with ballet lines.

Come prepared to present:
30 second phrase of movement and 2 minutes of a text you feel must be heard. If you can sing or play an instrument, please do.
