AUDITION: jill sigman/thinkdance: Thursday, May 24 10am-1pm

jill sigman/thinkdance seeks 1-2 performers for an extended creative development process beginning in September, with new work to premiere in spring 2013 (date tbd). Tentatively titled “last days,” the new work is a full evening-length exploration of explosion, fatalism and mending, as well as ritual healing. The piece involves dancing and planting a micro-field. Performers will be paid a project fee.

We seek technically trained dancers with an appreciation of extensive and fine-grained process, strong performance presence, rich imaginative experience that informs their work, and comfort improvising in performance. We want dancers who represent the diversity of the world outside of dance: all genders, body types, races and ages are strongly encouraged. We urge you to look at online material to determine your interest in the work of the company:

IMPORTANT: Performers are expected to craft other commitments around rehearsals and must be available:

Sep-Dec 2012: 2-3 times per week

Nov 16-18 2012: possible out of town showing

Jan-March 2013: 1-2 times/week per scheduling of the group

Please email thinkdanceadmin@gmail.com to register for the audition. Send full name, email, phone number and resume. You will receive location info prior to the audition.

About the company: jill sigman/thinkdance is an experimental dance company founded in 1998 which advances new work at the intersection of dance, theater and visual installation, often using non-traditional environments, formats and ways of engaging the viewer.
