Shen Wei Dance Arts Seeks Executive Director

 
World-renowned modern dance company Shen Wei Dance Arts seeks an Executive Director for its New York office.

Since its inception in 2000, choreographer and artistic director Shen Wei has created new works, which have toured to more than 140 cities in 28 countries. In addition to touring, SWDA presents an annual NYC season and offers educational programming.

The successful candidate should have knowledge of and appreciate the work of artistic director Shen Wei and be an articulate advocate for the choreographer’s work and artistic direction. Candidates should have strong financial management and business development skills, be adept in marketing, contract negotiations, fundraising and staff management. He/she will have a strong background in both theatrical production and not-for-profit arts management; have familiarity with the performing arts field, particularly contemporary dance. Knowledge about the international touring market helpful. Responsibilities will include budgeting, board- building, strategic planning, program development and coordination, marketing, fundraising, information technology, and the management of full-time staff. The candidate should be able to work in tandem with the artistic director to produce new work and promote the organization, develop new opportunities for the company and oversee the logistics of touring, New York City seasons, arts and education programming, and an annual Summer Intensive.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of leadership, be a resourceful, dedicated team-player, mature, with excellent communication skills and the ability to focus on details without losing sight of the big picture.
