About Pachamama:Mother World:

Pachamama:Mother World is a dance theater creation inspired by the indigenous tribes of North and South America. The performance piece will look at the ritualistic similarities between The Tehuelches and Mapuches tribes from Patagonia, Argentina, as compared to the shared rites of the North American Plains Indians.  There will be a particular focus on the Eagle and Buffalo Dances.  The piece will look at the primal impulses of communication, identity, and ritual, with the division between ritual and performance becoming increasingly blurred.

The pursuit of historically conscious dance-theater, my own background as a native of Argentina and Latina immigrant in the United States, as well an increasing veneration for Native American Culture has inspired the creation of Pachamama. It will be a new exploration of Dance Theatre as well as an anthropologic study into each culture. Audiences will be introduced to ritual dances that were developed by vastly different cultures and will leave the performance with an increased respect for each.
