FIGMENT Festival 2013- Danceploration Expedition
Looking for "Guides"for the Danceploration Expedition at the 2013 FIGMENT Festival on Governor's Island June 8 and 9, 2013
What IS the Danceploration Expedition?
"Jump! Wiggle! Glide! Roll!... on over to the Danceploration Expedition- a panoramic, improvisational movement quest in which the guests (aka "Adventurers") find themselves to be both the explorers and performers in a traveling show! Decipher clues, interpret travel instructions, accept Movement Missions, and come join the Danceploration Expedition. It's a moving experience!"
Danceploration is designed for movers of all levels- non dancers and dancers of any technical background. As "Guides", dancers will not be performing, but will be stationed at various Expedition Sites to assist the Adventurers in accomplishing their Movement Missions. Simply put, the job of the "Guides" is to play! To assist the Adventurers (non-dancers, general public) as they travel through a dance improv playground and support them as their creativity is unleashed.
Volunteers should be dancers or movers with: *training in improvisation
*an interest in community outreach
* a rather vibrant inner child!:)
Three suggested rehearsals (Attending at least one rehearsal is required):
* Tuesday May 28; Barnard College, Studio 306B 7-9pm
* Friday May 31; Barnard College, Studio 1 7-9pm
*Thursday June 6; Barnard College, Strang Studio 7-9pm
In these rehearsals, we will warm ourselves up with Contact Improv, familiarize ourselves with the movement prompts through our own Danceplore-ing, and discuss logistics for the days of the festival. It will be our own time to play!
Time commitment on Festival days (your choice):
Saturday June 8 Full day 11-5
Saturday June 8 Half day 11-2 or 2-5
Sunday June 9 Full day 11-5
Sunday June 9 Half day 11-2 or 2-5
Please contact Carrie Plew as soon as possible (preferably by June 1) with your interest in participating in Danceploration. Let's play!
