SALARY: $16/hour
HOURS: Partâ€Time Position
Mondays 5â€7:30 pm (requiredâ€company Modern III & Choreolab class)
Dancewave Company production weeks, evenings: May 16 & 17, 2014 & May 26â€May 31, 2014

ABOUT THE DANCEWAVE COMPANY: Dancewave Company III (DCIII) is a dance troupe of teenagers, ages 12â€15, selected by audition from all over New York City. This exceptional company provides a professional environment for young people that both challenges and encourages them to excel. The company works with emerging choreographers on groundbreaking work that expands the horizons of both the kids, and the modern dance world giving the kids an opportunity to understand and experience a diverse array of styles and artistic viewpoints. For the fall of 2013, DC III will work with Dante Brown.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Dancewave seeks a Dancewave Company III Coach to assist DCIII with artistic, technical, social, emotional and administrative aspects of company life. DCII works closely and directly with Dancewave’s Executive & Artistic Director, Director of Education and the DCIII resident choreographers for the year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ï‚· Serve as rehearsal assistant and attending all company rehearsals, classes and performances.
ï‚· Assist, guide and support DCIII members in achieving their goals.
ï‚· Serve as a mentor and leader, modeling professional behavior and encouraging company spirit and group
achievement.
ï‚· Learn all choreography and assist dancers in technical and stylistic aspects of the work.
ï‚· Run rehearsal warmâ€ups as needed.
ï‚· Communicate weekly with parents, dancers and choreographers about rehearsal and performance schedules.
ï‚· Address student behavior issues and company conflicts with the Executive/Artistic Director.
ï‚· Take regular attendance and report back to Dancewave’s Director of Education weekly.
ï‚· Take costume inventory and organize costumes for performances.
REQUIRED SKILLS & CREDENTIALS:
ï‚· Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Dance Performance or Dance Education
ï‚· Excellent written and oral communication skills
ï‚· Excellent organizational skills
ï‚· Regular access to email and ability to communicate regularly with company members during the week
ï‚· Experience working with teenagers from diverse racial/ethnics and socioeconomic backgrounds
ï‚· Deep knowledge of the dance world, particularly the modern field
ï‚· Understanding and cognizance of the different dance styles and processes
PREFERRED SKILLS:
ï‚· Master’s degree in Dance Performance or Dance Education
ï‚· Experience with conflict resolution
