Samuel Householder is hosting an audition for skilled, passionate, artistic male dancers for a new work to be premiered in part at the 92nd Y this September. Rehearsals are unpaid, but the full premiere is currently being fundraised and is expected to be a compensated event for all artists involved.

Sam is looking for dancers who:

- Have strong backgrounds in ballet and modern dance training.

- Are present, motivated and have their shit together for the most part.

- Have artistic integrity.

- Love collaboration and experimenting.

- Make bold chioces.

 

Samuel started the If/Then Dance Company in 2012 and has been building dances in New York City since. Originally from Portland Oregon, Sam has studied theater, visual art and classical dance throughout his youth. He then majored in dance and fine art at Adelphi University and has since been building dances in New York City.  Sam's biggest influences are Pina Bausch, Gustav Klimt and Paul Taylor among many, many others. Recent works by Sam Householder include his self produced 'Ghost' at Shapeshifter Lab, 'Cusp' at Dixon Place, 'Choke' at Williamsburg Arts and Historical Center, 'Used to Know' at Team Gallery Soho and 'Chatter' at NYC Raw Artists.

 

 

The primary audition will be at Mark Morris Dance Center on Thursday, June 26th from 11am to 2pm.

If you cannot make that audition time other dates will be scheduled.
