Battery Dance Company's 33rd Annual Downtown Dance Festival is quickly approaching! The festival is August 17-21, 6pm-8pm at Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Park (Battery Park City) in lower Manhattan. We're expecting a large turnout and a beautiful week of dance!
The Downtown Dance Festival is the longest existing dance festival in New York. From 1982, the festival has offered a melting point in the downtown area of New York City for different cultures and from all over the world. As a free outdoor festival, it has continued to invite audiences to enjoy five days of ethnic, classical, and contemporary dance performances from around the world.
We are looking for volunteers to help out with our production set up on Sunday Aug 17 1:30-3:30pm
set up would include:
- stage set up
- tent set up
- signage
- setting up tables
- install marley panels
- setting up banners, as well as handing out some postcards at the venue.
There are also two optional shifts throughout the festival from
Sunday Aug 17 to Thursday Aug 21
at 3:30-8pm and 6-10pm
Volunteer responsibilities in the 3:30-8pm Shift include:
- assist with set up
- inviting Park visitors to the performance
- greeting Audience members
Volunteer responsibilities in the 6-10pm Shift include:
- hand out Playbills
- station information tables
- take care hydration needs for dancers
- clean up
- bring materials to storage
- secure site
You DO NOT have to volunteer for every day, just the day/night(s) you will be available. However, each shift and each day is equally important, so please consider volunteering for as many shifts as you can!
Benefits include: working alongside professional dance companies, free dance performances in a beautiful park, and you get to keep the t-shirt!
Come join us to bring dance and arts to the public in this free event!
