NYC Ballet Child Performer Supervisor

 

New York City Ballet is seeking part-time, seasonal staff members to provide supervision for The School of American Ballet students cast in the NYCB production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker.  Times of shows vary on weekdays and weekends.

This position includes the following duties and responsibilities:

-Ensure that all performers are at the theater 60 minutes before the show and make necessary calls to alternates if they are not

-Bring children to and from the stage and oversee them while backstage

-Oversee the teenage helpers (older students from SAB) who help the performers with makeup and other necessary tasks to keep everything runnng smoothly

-Enforce SAB backstage policies to help ensure proper respectful behavior of students toward each other, company performers, adults, and the theater.

-Other duties as assigned by the Children's Division Assistant.

Qualifications:

The NYCB Supervisors must be organized, possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to troubleshoot when necessary.  Early Childhoold Education or previous experience working with children ages 8-18 suggested.  Experience or interest in the performing arts, particularly ballet, as well as backstage experience is a plus.  Qualified candidates must be available from Friday, November 28, 2014 through Saturday, January 3, 2015, per The Nutcracker performance calendar. Times of show vary.
