Hybrid Documentary Project Opportunity
Company: Early Prose
Location: New York City, NY
Compensation: $100 honorarium, food, travel costs, copy of final project on DVD
We are two MFA students in the Integrated Media Arts program at Hunter College and we are looking for a movement collaborator. This project is a hybrid documentary project mixing live action and animation to weave together the stories of 4 women talking about their perceptions of time and their daily lives during one week in November. It is somewhat of a collaborative diaristic time capsule, where the voices weave together, sometimes contrasting or overlapping. We are looking for a woman in her 50s or 60s to reenact through movement some of these interwoven stories (further integrating the women) - simple and repeated gestures, sometimes interacting with projected images/animations. It will be experimental and collaborative. As graduate students we are only able to provide a small honorarium of $100 as well as all transportation costs, will provide food for the shoot day and a copy of the final project on DVD if desired. We predict this will require one day of shooting in the TV Studio at Hunter College, North Campus (at 68th and Lexington Ave. in Manhattan) and a meeting beforehand to discuss approaches and introduce you to the project. For a sample of our collaborative work, (and also an introduction to one of our participants in the project), Please find a link to our project, Hansu Solo. We have also created a short excerpt and some tests from the piece with a stand in dancer, available here: https://vimeo.com/123214575 (password is hybrid). Please contact Kaija Siirala for more information or if you're interested. We look forward to hearing from you!
