Looking for Dancers to help develop Theater/Dance adaptation

The physical theater company Sinking Ship Production is looking for dancers to take part in developing their latest work of theater - an adaptation of the science fiction novel, Solaris.  The story takes place on a planet entirely covered in an ocean, that is alive in a way humans have yet to understand.  The concept for the production is that the Ocean would be represented by a chorus of dancers - perhaps involving a non-newtonian liquid.

We're currently developing the piece as part of the resident artist program at Mabou Mines.  Our next presentation date is the evening of March 14th - and we're planning on focusing on the ocean for this phase of the project.  Our current rehearsal schedule is as follows:

Fri, March 4th before 9-11am
Sat, March 5th - 9-12pm
Sun, March 6th - 9am-12pm

Monday, March 7 - after 6pm
Thursday, March 10 - 9am-12pm
Saturday, March 12 - 9am-1pm
Sunday, March 13 - 9am-1pm
Monday, March 14 - Presentation - evening (Time TBD)

May 10 - June 1 - continued development and Final presentations

We'll be working towards a final presentation in the first week in June, and though we don't have a lot of resources to put towards this project yet, we're able to offer a $100 stipend.

If interested please send a resume, a headshot, a short clip of yourself in movement, and tell us a little about your experience creating work collaboratively.

A dancer in a black tutu and leotard and pointe shoes stands on one leg, with the other leg extended behind the body in a straight line. One arm is raised above the head and the other extended to the back parallel to the extended leg. The school director is opposite the dancer and wears a red DTH logo t-shirt and black pants and ballet slippers. She holds the hand of the arm raised above the dancer’s head with one arm and her back arm is extended and she is smiling at the student.
