Seeking a few contemporary dancers to create movement material

Seeking a few contemporary dancers to create movement material Simone E King

Left Side Labs, a low-residency choreographers workshop founded by dance artists Emma Batman and Mathew Heggem, is in search of a few (2-3) contemporary dancers.  In exchange for the occasional 2 hours on a Tuesday morning (8am - 10am) typically at the Gibney Studios on Broadway (north of Union Sq.), we can pay you $10/hr.  That's $20 to dance for two hours before you have to go about your day... It's like getting paid to take class?!?!?

You'll be working with Emma and Mathew on new movement.  In short, we just need a few dancers to play with in the studio, make some phrases/partnering sequences and explore new ideas. There's no long-term commitment other than to show up when you/we agree. You may only come for a few Tuesdays.... we may ask you to keep coming back (if you're having fun, of course)! And if everything clicks, we may invite you to perform in our shared-evening at Center for Performance Research, where we'll be splitting the bill with DC-Based ClancyWorks Dance Company on October 15th/16, 2016.

Now, you can see a sample of our movement vocab/phrasework via our Instagram here: www.instagram.com/leftsidelabs/ -- or you can check out our website at leftsidelabs.org.

If you are up to dancing with us in the studio and feel that you can keep up, email us at infoleftsidelabs.org. feel free to share any video of you dancing, if you have 'em.
