Dance Game Show seeks contestants
Company: Dance Move Daily
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $100 to the winning team
Dancify That! is a dance game show in which participants compete in creating dance moves inspired by strange internet videos. How it works:
We'll start off by projecting a short video-- audience and participants alike. Contestants will then get up on the dance floor and have 3 minutes to create a short dance inspired by the video. Next, contestants perform their dance. This if followed by the judges awarding scores and saying a bit about teach dance piece (they are comedians and know very little about dance). We go round to round, each round teams advancing and some dropping off. At the end, the winner goes home with $100 and the Dancify That! championship belt*.
Everyone gets snacks and champagne.
*Not an actual physical thing, more a feather in your cap.
We're seeking individuals who like to move, have fun while doing it, and aren't afraid to get fiercely theatrical.
Auditions will take place on Nov. 30th 3-6pm and Dec. 1st from 5-6:30, 8-9:30.
Show is on Jan. 13th. @ 8PM.
FAQ:
Q: What type of people participate?
A: All types. We've had nurses, school teachers, plumbers, as well as contemporary dancers. If you like the idea of putting on a costume and dancing, you are a perfect fit. It's much more about attitude and OWNING IT than knowing some dance technique. I mean, someone made "the sprinkler" dance move, right?
Q: Where do the costumes come from?
A: You. You'll come up with a name and a costume that fits it. Examples of teams in the past: Pajamarinas (they wore pajamas), Blue Steel (wore all blue), Warrior Fruit Roll Up (jorts and sequined tops), Scotch and Soda (wore mechanic's coveralls). Totally up to you, but I'd say don't spend money, get creative like your 5 years old and it's Halloween.
Q: Do I get paid?
A: The winner gets $100. Everyone else gets great photos of the show as well as a really fun night out meeting a bunch of great folks. The vibe is more that of a family reunion after everyone has had a few drinks than a competition.
Q: Where can I learn more?
A: dancemovedaily.com, or our FB and Instagram pages.
