NACHMO (National Choreography Month) is your yearly choreographic kick in the pants! Each January, we challenge dancers, choreographers, and movement enthusiasts of all kinds to make a piece in a month.  We offer opportunities for participants to share their new work with each other and with the public in both informal and fully produced shows. And we kick-off with a party!

Do you want to perform your work in a studio show at Mark Morris Dance Center on February 1, 2, 3, or 4?

The studio shows are informal but polished performances with a 7 minute time limit. Each show runs for about an hour, and participants have the option of posing a question to the audience to receive specific feedback about their piece after the showing.

Fill out THIS FORM before January 7 to enter into the studio show lottery. Up to 40 participants will be randomly selected. We’ll notify you by January 10 as to whether you were selected. If you’re selected, confirm your spot by paying your $10 performance fee through a link in your acceptance email by January 15.

Do you want to show your work in a curated theater show at the Actors Fund Arts Center on Feb 24 or 25 at 8pm?

These are fully produced shows with a 7 minute time limit. Tech rehearsal will be the afternoon of your show night. Pieces for the theater shows will be chosen from the studio shows, so start by clicking on the link above and getting yourself entered in the studio show lottery!

Up to 10 participants will be selected to show their work in each theater show at the Actors Fund Arts Center. The selection will be made based on programmatic balance and variety. Chosen choreographers will be notified by February 10. If you’re selected, confirm your spot by paying the $31 performance production fee through the link provided in your acceptance email. This fee includes professional photos taken during tech and professional video filmed during the show. You’ll receive the photos and video by March 15.

Do you want to show your NACHMO dance film?

Email info@nachmo.org anytime before February 4 with the link to your video. We’ll give you a NACHMO Film 2017 Vimeo channel username and password so you can upload your film. We’ll also put your video in the gallery on our website. Select videos will be shown before each NACHMO performance at the Actors Fund Arts Center on February 24 and 25.
