Dance Astoria Co-Producers, Nicole Ohr and Stephanie Deere, are seeking Queens – Based Choreographers for the 4th annual Dance Astoria festival held outdoors at the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria, NY. This year, the festival will take place from 1-6pm on Sunday June 11th, 2017.

Queens’ residents are encouraged to submit choreography from all styles of dance including contemporary, classical, and cultural dance forms. Please keep in mind that this is an outdoor performance: the stage is raised painted wood and requires footwear or socks to dance on. In case of rain there is an indoor performance space. Works must be less than 5 minutes, and appropriate for families. There is no fee to submit and no production fee if accepted. Each company will receive a 30 minute technical rehearsal in the space between 10am and 2pm the week before the festival.

Choreographers may apply with previously performed work, or submit a proposal for a new piece. If submitting a previously performed work, please submit a YouTube or Vimeo link of this piece. For a proposal of new work, submit a YouTube or Vimeo link of previously created work.

In order to apply, email the following information to DanceAstoria2014@gmail.com. Please also direct any questions about the festival or application process to this email. Incomplete applications or artists with no connection to Queens will not be reviewed.

Deadline to apply is Saturday April 22nd, 2017. Choreographers will be notified of acceptance no later than Saturday May 6th, 2017.
