Nia & Ness Fundraiser Call for Artists!

We are Nia & Ness, a Brooklyn-based dancer-poet duo, and we are seeking artists to perform at our fundraiser on Friday, May 18. The event will be held from 9-11 p.m. at NU Hotel, located at  85 Smith St in Downtown, Brooklyn. Artists can be from a variety of disciplines, and interdisciplinary pieces are welcomed.

The event will be called ‘Black, Lesbian Love is a Form of Resistance’. The question we are asking the artists to answer through their work is “what is your form of resistance?” Potential pieces must fit into this theme and the artist's set must be no longer than 10 minutes. If the work is movement/dance based, it should be either a solo or a duet due to the size of the space.

Also, there is a TV in the space where if you wanted to show a short film, you would be able to hook up a laptop for it to be showcased during the fundraiser.

Artists will not be paid, though each performer will receive professional video documentation of their work.

Artists must submit a work sample of the piece/s they will perform that night, as well as a short bio and a brief explanation of the work sample. To apply and if you have any questions about this opportunity, email: niaandness@gmail.com

Deadline to apply: Thursday, April 12th at 11:59pm
