Segarra Dance Theatre Projects seeking Media Intern

 
SDTP seeking intern

We are a small dance theatre collective based in Manhattan with rehearsals in Manhattan and Long Island City, Queens. 
We are currently seeking an Intern that can assist Artistic Director and Company Choreographer, Candice Segarra with media and marketing. Current undergrads still enrolled in college and post-graduates having graduated in 2016 and after are welcome to apply. Students will be working remotely but coming into the city for a meeting if necessary per request of Artstic Director and for some performances when needed. NYC based and Westchester county based applicants only may apply. 

Qualifications: 

- enrolled in a college/university currently
- just graduated from college in 2016 or after 
- knowledge of photography and working with a professional camera (having your own camera is a plus, but not required.)
- flexible schedule
- must have somewhat knowledge of dance 
- must have an interest or goals in media and marketing 
- must be a person of honesty, organized, open, eager, creative, fun and outgoing 
- must be able to collaborate, bring ideas and receive positive criticism 
- must have a professional manner, communicative and proactive 
- must have experience in Photoshop (basic, intermediate or advanced is a plus, if not, you will learn from the director)
- must have experience and knowledge of working with Facebook, Instagram etc. 
- must have somewhat knowledge of editing websites on Squarespace (if not, you will learn from the director)

Tasks:

- taking photos of company during rehearsals and during performances (some performances if neccesary) 
- posting videos and photos on Instagram, Instastory, and Facebook of rehearsals and performances
- having one scheduled phone call or video call for 30 min - 1 hour, once a week with Artistic Director for planning purposes.
- editing company website on Squarespace if and when needed
- creating graphics on Photoshop for company to post on social media, online outlets etc if and when needed. 
- posting about performances and workshops on online outlets 
- researching for performance opportunities SDTP qualifies for (and applying for them when necessary) 

Compensation:

This is an unpaid internship. However, intern will receive the following:
- college credit (if needed) 
- letter of recommendation
- resume editing
- mentorship 
- headshots, body shots, dance shots for free 
- insight into the behind the scenes of a NYC based dance company 
- attending and participating in company rehearsals 
- knowledge of the NYC dance industry
