BABEL Seeks More Diversity in Casting
BABEL is a NYC-based dance company in pursuit of what is true, just, and beautiful.
We partner with social justice organizations to create custom-made work, whether live or filmed, that is used at their fundraisers, conferences, or on social media in order to increase the rate of which they make an impact.
We are seeking to build a more diverse pool of dancers to be able to choose from according to the individual needs of projects.
Immediate needs:
African, African American, Afro Latinx dancers for December Performance. The show threads stories around the central theme of the United States as an ex-lover to POC. It consists of multidisciplinary works, created by artists of different backgrounds and skill sets. Artists are given a prompt to share their experiences of growing up here, going to school here, working here, and still not being known. What is it like to have known this country so intimately, but have not been known in return?
All dancers who apply will be considered for the show and unrelated future projects.
We are looking for dancers who:
- Are committed and excited to research and truthfully embody the causes we are working on.
- Have a high emotional intelligence and ability to perform.
- Have a strong technical background while still being able to be natural/human.
Application Process:
- Fill out following form
- Schedule a 20-minute interview
To request an interview, fill out the following form by September 1st, and we will get back to you shortly.
