Weekend Employment for Dance Convention

 

Transcend Tour, a prominent submission-only dance convention/competition, is looking to hire a part-time employee for the duration of the 6 dates listed below. This may lead to further employment and hours worked weekly if the candidate is interested and qualified. Compensation, travel, accommodations, and food is provided. 

Dates:

January 17-19, 2019 (Ogden, UT)

February 1-3, 2019 (Los Angeles, CA)

February 8-10, 2019 (Valley Forge, PA)

February 15-17, 2019 (Austin, TX)

March 1-3, 2019 (Miami, FL)

March 8-10, 2019 (Greenville, NC)

Responsibilities:

- During the day, you will be responsible for checking out customers who purchase clothing, observer bands etc. You will also be responsible for answering questions at the registration desk if someone else from the staff is not available at this time. Whenever possible, you will be responsible for keeping the merchandise organized, presented, and folded properly. 

- In the evening, you will be responsible for checking dancers in before they enter backstage for competition. You will be on headset with staff members both backstage and in the dressing rooms, and will be responsible for managing the flow of dancers, and making sure everyone is checked-in in time for their dance.

-  Before and after the event, you will help the rest of the staff in setting up and breaking down the marketing portion of the event. This may include setting up the registration desk, folding/setting up merchandise, putting together extra signage, printing materials, putting together packets. etc.

- Each event runs from approximately 3pm on the first day to 5pm on the 3rd day. Exact hours each day vary depending on the schedule in that city. In some instances, you may be required to arrive the night before. 

Requirements:

- Must have an outgoing, personable personality. The majority of this role requires interacting with clients (teachers, parents, studio owners) and particularly - young dancers. 

- Must be hard-working and proactive. While the main responsibilities are outlined above, we are looking for someone that will be able to jump into situations where they may be needed. 

- Must be positive, professional, and able to maintain calmness and poise in stressful situations. 

- A background in dance and knowledge of the dance convention/competition environment is highly preferred. Prior customer service experience is highly preferred.
