The MFA Dance program at the University at Buffalo has an innovative curriculum that encourages interdisciplinary artistic exploration. Our students take a blend of practical courses (dance-making, technique, theories of the body) and theory courses (cultural and political approaches to dance, embodied research, aesthetics and criticism) as well as courses in their individualized area of specialization. MFA students have opportunities to create and present work in a variety of venues each year and work closely with the faculty to develop their artistic and scholarly voice and to devise their final MFA thesis project.
