MADC's Move to Change Open Submission Call

MODArts Dance Collective (MADC) is elated to announce its Second Annual Move to Change Dance Festival on Friday & Saturday, November 8-9, 2019 7:30PM at University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street, NY, NY 10002. The purpose of Move to Change is to use dance as a form of social justice and arts activism through the lens of people of color (POC). The goal of Move to Change is to create cultural and gender affirming spaces for artists of color (African, Latina/o/x, Asian, Arab, Native American [ALAANA]), MENA, & SWANA to present longer works reflecting their personal stories to influence their respective communities and the world around them. Seven chosen artists will present 8-10 minutes of a dance work on both nights and tech on November 7, 2019 between the hours of 6-10 PM with a lighting designer and a sound technician.

The 2019 open submission call is Monday, July 22-Saturday, August 31 at 11:59PM EST. There is no application fee to submit. All artists will be notified by EOD on Monday, September 9, 2019. If chosen, artists will sign a letter of agreement and pay a $75 non-refundable production fee + processing fee through PayPal to confirm him/her/their participation in the dance festival and to assist with the cost of the venue, lighting designer, house manager, advertising/marketing, and programs. Payment plans are provided if needed. Participating artists will present their work on both evenings, receive free photos, free access to MADC company and community classes, a video of the performance piece, as well as an allocated tech/dress time, four lighting cues, and exposure through advertising/marketing.
