Artists Elevating Immigrant Narratives Logo

Apply and please spread the word! The deadline to apply is Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

THE CREATORS COLLECTIVE seeks artists to join in a site-specific, collaborative project focused on artists elevating immigrant narratives.

Artists Elevating Immigrant Narratives offers opportunities to artists to develop collaborative work that elevates the narrative of immigration in America and engages art and activism in an environment that nurtures conversation and results in meaningful action.

PROJECT GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATING ARTISTS

- Priority for this project will be given to immigrant artists but we are also interested in connecting with artists closely touched by immigration, be it through relationships, work or life experience, etc.

- It is crucial that all artists are open to a collaborative process, engaging with other artists to develop work that will be presented in a culminating event on Saturday, November 16, 2019 (rain date: Sunday, November 17, 2019)

- Artists commit to attending all of the gatherings, tech + dress rehearsals, and the final event (all dates listed below).

- Artists agree to take part in an interview in October that we will use footage from to share and promote the project.

COMPENSATION FOR ARTISTS

- All artists who commit to the project, within the guidelines above and through the event, will receive a $100 artist fee no more than 10 days after the event.

- While the final performances will take place outdoors in Prospect Park, we will offer some free indoor space for participating artists to meet and develop work as needed. We will assist with scheduling, location, and other logistics at the start of the project.

- For any mandatory gatherings, we will cover the cost of public transportation ($5.50 per gathering).

- Artists will have access to and permission to use interview footage, and photography + video footage from the event.

APPLICATION PROCESS

To join this project, please send an email to submit@thecreatorscollective.org with two work samples, why you’re interested in joining this project, your history and interest in collaborating with other artists (working in the same or different artistic disciplines), and if you can commit to the guidelines above (as well as if you want to be involved but have questions or concerns with any of the guidelines). Please also include if you are an immigrant artist or connecting to this theme in another way as described in the Guidelines section. We are open to visual artists working in 2D + 3D as well as performance artists working in a range of disciplines (dance, theater, music, projections, etc.)

The deadline to apply for this project is Wednesday, September 25 and we will review applications that week, notifying accepted artists by Monday, September 30.

Questions? Send us an email to hello@thecreatorscollective.org.
