Rodd has shown their original work at ACDA, (Hood)Works! by Brother(hood) Dance and University Settlement. ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Founded by Richard “Rodd” Denson in 2018, stubbornMVMT is a performance-based company that uses dance, theatre, and visual arts to shatter boundaries of the status quo. We create intentional chaos - providing a platform for free and radical voices to be heard. It is not our interest in providing an answer but rather a platform for discussion.

PERFORMANCE DATES:

Saturday, May 2, 2020 - 7:30p

Sunday, May 3, 2020 - 4:30p

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Institutional Freedom explores the black experience of living in America. It navigates through double standards, multi-layered racism/prejudice, and controversial acts within the community itself. However, despite this complicated system of identity, we [people of color] ALWAYS return home to gain a “sense of self” and “re-align.” It’s evident there is power and security in black culture but it can also be self-destructing. In this piece, we investigate where, when, and if we draw the line.

We are looking for dance artists of color who have strong modern and contemporary techniques; background in ethnic and street styles a plus. To apply, email us your HEADSHOT, RESUME, AVAILABILITY (3/23 - 5/4), and link to a VIDEO CLIP. *The video clip does not have to be anything professionally done. We just want to see how your body moves.

For more information, email us or visit the website.
