DARE TO DANCE IN PUBLIC FILM FESTIVAL (D2D) is a live & online, international, dance film festival dedicated to democratizing dance, doing it in public, & sharing it on film.  We are committed to promoting dance that happens in the public realm - outside of studios and off traditional stages… dance that explores place and space, engages an unsuspecting public, and intersects creatively with film.  Cash awards are given in 5-6 categories and both winning and honorably mentioned films are featured in Cultural Weekly, an online magazine.

This year's theme is aptly entitled PANDEMANIA! - a made up word that we define as follows: a state of abnormally elevated arousal, affect, and energy level due to isolation, frustration, anger, and various strong emotions brought about as a direct result of the Coronavirus, as well as issues/world events e.g. systemic racism, immigration, the environment, LGBTQX & women’s rights, and other pandemics in our collective history.

Pandemania frequently results in a heightened need for self-expression through movement.

Get your work seen by a panel of internationally renowned judges from the worlds of dance, film, theater, and beyond:  Peter Chu, E. Moncell Durden, Kristy Edmunds, Sarah Elgart, Rosalynde LeBlanc Loo
