Casting for Short Dance Film

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

say I Love You is a reflection of the cyclical emotional and sexual trauma queer youth experience that manifests itself in our adult lives. Often in the queer community, we find ourselves using sexual behaviors to establish relationships, trust, and identity – mistaking sex for love and or power. The idea that this is the only way we show up in the world. This habitual behavior, especially in today’s hook-up culture, manifests in body dysphoria, social anxiety, and unstable relationships: intimate and platonic. With say I Love You, we entrust ourselves with a new power navigating romance, sexual temptation – desires, wants, and curiosities, and the continual lust for love.

This piece was performed in November 2019, at The Performance Project @ University Settlement, as a part of their Emerging Guest Artist Series.

Filming Date: December (Exact Date TBD)

Rehearsal Dates/Times: TBD based on the availability of dancers.

For this project, we will be turning this stage piece into a short film. We are looking for dance and movement artists of color with an established modern and contemporary background to fill the following roles:

Soloist - Male Dancer (Paid)

Four Male Dancers and Two Female Dancers (Non-Paid)

To be considered for casting, email us your Headshot, Resume, Availability (11/1 - 12/31), a link to a movement clip, and a short 30-sec video. For your 30-sec video, please read the following lines:

I am not a man, nor woman, but a soul, filling the very nooks and crannies of fibers stretched. FUCK YOU! You're filled with accomplishment as if it’s the sweetest sensation. You entered me. I can’t breathe! Mouth open, no saliva. Is this what love feels like?

*The movement clip does not have to be anything professionally done. We want to see how your body moves.
