In Partnership with the Curtis Institute of Music, Virtual Ballet Collective, and Pangea Live, DM.connect is pleased to announce a new competition for the creation and presentation of new artistic works from promising student composers and choreographers. After a rigorous application process, 3 rising choreographers will be chosen for the creation of a new dance film, set to the musical compositions of 3 winning composers performed by Curtis Institute musicians. The final results will be presented in a virtual performance hosted by Pangea Live in May, 2021.

Prizes:
•The opportunity to participate in the creation of a new dance film, directed, edited, and produced by yourself, in collaboration with DM.connect student composer prize winners
•Coaching and consultation in the process of choreography, filming, and video editing with DM.connect professionals
•Presentation of a world-premier dance film during a virtual performance in collaboration with Pangea Live in May 2021
•$100 honorarium

Application Requirements:
•Be a student choreographer aged 12-22 with at least 2 years of dance training. Students from any and all dance backgrounds are encouraged to apply

Production Requirements:
Chosen choreographers will be required to
•choreograph a new work, not to exceed 5 minutes, to a musical work provided to you from a fellow DM.Connect composer provided to you from DM.Connect.
•Arrange and rehearse dancers for the work, or rehearse yourself if presenting a solo
•Film and direct the work on a personal camera of your choice (smart phone cameras are acceptable).
•Edit the video material together with the music in a format worthy of a professional presentation
•Upload the final work to DM.Connect for the final showcase.
•Adhere to all deadlines set forth my DM.Connect

•Winners Announced: February 26
•Reception of Music: March 1
•Initial Choreographic Consultation: March 8-12
•Deadline for finished choreography: April 11
•Second Choreographic Consultation: April 12-16
•Deadline for completed filming of choreography: April 25
•Video Editing Consultation: April 26-30
•Deadline for final edited dance film: May 17
•Final Presentation
•Honorarium Awarded: Friday May 22
