Teaching Artist Assistant Job for Teens (16-18 yrs old)

BEAT (Bridging Education & Art Together), is an arts nonprofit located in Queens, NY. Our mission is to provide inclusive, accessible, arts education rooted in Hip Hop culture for youth in underrepresented communities and people with disabilities. 

We are looking for 3 young people (16-18 years old) with a dance or arts background to assist with our outdoor summer program. We are looking for one TA Assistant for each location: Queens, Bronx, and Brooklyn. 

BEAT’s summer program is a FREE 8-week in-person dance program for children ages 7-12 years old during the summer break. The program will take place outdoors at the Queens Botanical Garden (Queens), Lehman College (Bronx), and Hancock Community Backyard (Brooklyn). 

Roles & Responsibilities
- Set up the outdoor dance space with sound equipment & PPE
- Demonstrate the dance steps 
- Take student attendance 
- Administer health screenings (take temperature + give out health form) 
- Chaperone students to the bathroom 
- Make sure students stay socially distanced and keep their masks on 
- Monitor student drop off & pick up at designated location 

Qualifications 
- Must live in Queens to apply for Queens Botanical Garden
- Must live in Brooklyn to apply for Hancock Community Backyard 
- Must live in the Bronx to apply for Lehman College 
- Must be 16-18 years old 
- Must be able to attend orientation, site visit and all scheduled class for designated site 
- Must complete the online job application and attend an interview if invited
