Dance Bloc NYC is a dance festival presented by Dixon Place

At Dance Block NYC, festival artists will have the opportunity to showcase their dance works in Dixon Place's main theater. Dixon Place's mission is to present new work, both works-in-progress and finished work, by early & mid-career artists. Dixon Place is a FULLY EQUIPPED PERFORMANCE SPACE measuring 35 ft X 20 ft with a SPRUNG MASONITE FLOOR.

The Festival will be curated by Sangeeta Yesley.  
Dixon Place is located at 161A Chrystie Street, btwn Rivington and Delancey, New York, NY 10002.

The 2021 Festival will provide opportunities for choreographers from all genres of dance forms to showcase work around the following themes:

1. Strength
2. Equality
3. Respect

The length of work can be between 5 and 25 minutes long.

Proposed works should be new or recently re-worked with primarily new choreography, both works-in-progress and finished work.  If invited to participate, artists should plan to show the same piece as described in their application.

Please note:
*  works involving 4 or more dancers presented at the Festival may vary in length between 15 minutes and 25 minutes.
*  solos can be between 5 and 12 minutes in duration.
Works outside of these time frames may not be considered.

*** There will be a small stipend for the choreographers.

Application submission is for the 2021 Festival.   Please read the guidelines before completing the application form.


Festival Dates are: NOVEMBER 18,19 & 20
(If selected, your work will be included in a program in one of the 3 days)

Deadline to apply is TUESDAY, AUGUST 31, MIDNIGHT.
You will receive our response by: SEPTEMBER 20.
