Ajna Dance Company is seeking experienced dancers and teaching artists who specialize in Bollywood, Classical Indian dance, and Bhangra. We are looking to hire NYC based dancers to teach in-person fall programs. Classes are generally M-F, between 9am-5pm. Our company is focused on sharing South Asian culture through dance with students, schools and communities across the tristate area and now, country.

Started in 2013, Ajna Dance Company is a NYC based woman and minority owned performing arts organization with the mission of sharing authentic and artistic Indian dance. We share movement and culture through our dance education programs in schools, dance classes and performances. We aim to increase the representation and accessibility of South Asain culture as well as foster diversity and cultural inclusion through our programs and performances. We have partnered with over 300 schools in all five boroughs of NYC. We are a growing organization looking for dancers and teaching artists to join us.

Arts Education

Ajna Dance Company is leading the way in South Asian arts programming for schools across the tristate area. We have worked with over 300+ schools through our Indian dance assemblies, residencies and after-school programs. We incorporate social studies, geography, language combined with creative movement, cultural music and choreography into our lesson plans and students walk away with experiencing new dance and movement styles and with a better understanding of South Asian culture.  Our team of teaching artists are professionally trained and we tailor the lesson plan and choreography to the grade level of the students.

We are looking for teaching artists who are available for freelance work with schools. Position includes virtual and in-person work. Artists will be leading both long-term residencies and one-time classes for grades K-8. Performances and workshops are additional opportunities based on availability and booking. Pay is competitive; our priority is to get the right people who share in our mission.
