We've extended the deadline to apply for our audition! Interested applicants can now submit materials by Wednesday, May 11th at 11:59PM (EST) to be considered for our in-person auditions. We are seeking 2-3 dancers to fill company positions to begin rehearsing and performing with Artichoke Dance Company this summer. Paid rehearsals and performances.

ABOUT US:

Artichoke Dance Company is known for innovative and engaging performances paired with environmental activism, education, community building and civic engagement. The Brooklyn-based company creates site-adaptive performances, community engagement experiences, and environmental education opportunities under the direciton of Company Director, Lynn Neuman. View more of our work at our website, www.artichokedance.org

TO APPLY:

Interested applicants are invited to complete a short audition form, linked below, by May 11th at 11:59PM (EST). The form will request basic demographic and contact information, proof of vaccination, a resume, and two video materials. Instructions for the two videos are listed below.

VIDEO ONE:

The first video should demonstrate the applicant's ability to learn and generate choreography and how well they are able to adapt to the company's movement aesthetic. Please view the video that is linked below (also linked in the audition form!) of company member, Aidan Feldman, teaching 6-8 counts of the "Fast Phrase" from our Just Gowanus piece. This phrase is about disruption. It is about things being pulled apart. With this information, please create your own 2-8 counts that you will attach to the end of the 6-8 counts you learned, picking up where Aidan left off. Then, video yourself performing all 8-8 counts (our choreography + your choreography!) and upload via video link or file upload in the audition form.

VIDEO TWO:

The second video offers the opportunity for applicants to demonstrate their unique strengths and show a bit more of yourself! Please upload one more video, reel, or performance of your choice for us to review. You will be able to upload this via video link or file upload within the audition form.

AUDITION DETAILS:

Interested applicants should upload all requested materials via the audition form linked below by May 11th at 11:59PM (EST). You will be notified by May 13th if you have received an invitation to the in-person auditions happening May 20th from 11:30am-4:00pm and May 21st from 12:30pm-2:30pm (you will be assigned a 2 hour time slot!) at the Laura Peterson studios at 68 Jay Street in Brooklyn. Callbacks will happen at the same location on May 21st at 3:00pm.
