Highly-subsidized theater rental in Manhattan, professional lighting design, professional photography, box office management, tech rehearsal, marketing, program production and printings, AND guest artists receive their box office ticket sales.
This is a fantastic performance opportunity for professional dance companies and choreographic artists to present their work and a small select group of artists in a curated program at the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), Florence Gould Hall, as guest artists of Alison Cook Beatty Dance and Innovative Music Spring Performance on May 13th at 8 pm.
Alison Cook Beatty Dance is excited to provide a highly-subsidized opportunity for engaging choreographers to show their work as part of a self-produced, high-level performance season with a limited financial commitment. Choreographers of all backgrounds (emerging, mid-career, and established) are encouraged to apply.
What’s Included in the Low Flat Fee if Chosen:
Theater rental at French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), Florence Gould Hall, a state-of-the-art 361-seat proscenium stage theatre and concert hall at 55 East 59th Street (between Madison and Park Avenues). It opened in the spring of 1988.
Performance marketing and advertising, including easily shareable online copy for your audience
Tech rehearsal
Professional lighting
Professional photography: Guest artists will receive professional dress rehearsal and performance photos.
Box office: Both the online and day-of-event box office needs will be fully managed and staffed
Event insurance: this is a required expense for theater rental and is covered
Overall costs exceed $20K, and Alison Cook Beatty Dance will cover additional costs. This performance is also made possible with partial support from The Cultural Development Fund.
Box Office Earnings:
Each Company can bring in as many people as they want. Alison Cook Beatty Dance will give them up to $500 in ticket revenue back, minus a $5.00 processing fee on each ticket. (so, if a company brings in $600 of ticket sales, they can earn back their $500).
Application Details:
APPLICATION DEADLINE: FREE early bird application due by February 15th.
An extended application with a $25 Application Fee will be due by March 15th.
Artists will be notified of the decision by March 19th, 2023 (8 weeks/ 2 months before the show)
The proposed work should be 8 minutes for group work and 5 minutes at max for a solo/duet. Choreographers must provide professional performers.
Video sample: Please submit links to either a) a completed proposed work OR b) any existing rehearsal footage of the proposed work still in process, plus one completed piece as an example of your work.
Application fee: $25 due upon application. (early bird application has no fee)
Flat participation fee: $500 due upon selection and acceptance. This highly-subsidized flat fee will be further offset by ticket revenue.
Optional: If the choreographer/company requests a video, a $65 order fee will be due.
Additional details:
Choreographers will be provided a 15-20-minute tech rehearsal plus professional photographs of their work.
Note for multimedia artists/works: a projector will be available for guest artists.

Alison Cook Beatty Dance will present two pieces on the program "Messages In Time" and "In The Forest Between Life and Death" in collaboration with Innovative Music Productions. We will be looking for works lighter in mood to be in between these heavier works.
