Looking for female-identifying choreographers under 30 years old for the WADEintoACTIVISM Festival by WADE.

WADE is looking for three (3) emerging female-identifying choreographers under 30 years old to be presented at our WADEintoACTIVISM Festival 2023. WADEintoACTIVISM is a performing arts festival presenting work by female and historically underrepresented artists and conversations with feminist allies surrounding gender-based violence. WADE is joining the Global 16 Days Campaign, launched by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) and feminists from around the world running from November 25th (the International Day Against Violence on Women) through December 10th (Human Rights Day). The three (3) choreographers will share an evening at our closing night on December 10th @ 6:30pm and 8:30pm at Arts on Site. BIPOC and disabled artists are highly encouraged to apply.

The work proposed should be 10/15 minutes long and be centered around one of the topics of the festival: 

-Sexual assault

-Reproductive rights

-Emotional manipulation

-Female erasure

-Underage prostitution and trafficking

-Domestic abuse

-Violence against black women

-In-person and virtual consent

-Construction of masculinity and femininity

-Gender-based advocacy

-The cultural shift needed to eliminate violence

-The gender politics of public spaces

-The importance of family and education for gender equity

-Positive masculinity

-Familiar, communitarian, societal silence around topics of violence

COMPENSATION:

Each choreographer will receive an artistic fee of $500, professional photos and footage of their works without any charge.

 

WORKSHOP:

Each selected choreographer will create a workshop open to the community in collaboration with the WADE team.
