Calling for expressions of interest in the Blackbird Dance Company Development Lab

Seeking two (2) adult dancers with an advanced level of Flamenco. This is a long-term project that includes a 10-month technique, artistry and repertory development lab and performance possibilities. Performance experience preferable, but not required. Lab to begin in September 2023. 

Dancers should be based in the NYC or tri-state area or be willing to travel for rehearsals and performances. While the lab can take place anywhere, it is preferable for dancers to be in easy distance to NYC (e.g., parts of NJ, CT, Philadelphia and DC).

EXPECTATIONS:

?Artists are expected to take the following classes each week:

one (1) class in danza estilizada

one (1) class in Flamenco

one (1) class in classical ballet

Artists should be autonomous and able to commit to attending classes individually and in a virtual format.

Artists should be able to commit to group rehearsals (dates and times to be determined once group has been determined).

All of the above classes will be fully covered by the company. Rehearsals and performances are paid.

A YouTube or Vimeo link to performance, rehearsal or class video of the applicant. Please limit video to 2 minutes or indicate which 2 minutes of a longer video you would like to be viewed.

Dancers will be notified by August 11, 2023.

Selected dancers should confirm their intention to participate by August 25, 2023.
