Executive Director, Chicago Dance History Project

Chicago Dance History Project (CDHP), a Chicago-based non-profit producer of Chicago dance oral histories and a repository of company and artist archives, seeks a creative and dynamic Executive Director to guide expansion of our oral history collections and broaden our public engagement. We've got some major items on our plate: preserving and making accessible everything we've done so far (probably in collaboration with a research library or university); integration our own Website and database with the collection; and establishing the Digitization Station to assist dance professionals in preserving their own memorabilia.  And we're tired of being the best-kept secret of the Chicago dance community!  The new E.D. will lead all these efforts, which means being responsible for administration and programming, staffing, and Board support.  This person will also represent CDHP in the local and national arts, culture, and funding arenas. The ideal candidate will also have experience in arts leadership and fundraising, an interest in conducting interviews and otherwise building the collection, plus knowledge of audio-visual production and digital preservation.  (Will coordinate with collaborators and supervise staff and contractors in each of these areas; no one will know everything about everything we do!)  Salary range $65K - $75K, commensurate with experience. Standard paid holidays and health benefits. Early October start date ideal.

Send letter and resume to Interim Executive Director Kelly Kleiman at Kelly.Kleiman@gmail.com.  No calls, please.

CDHP seeks a diverse applicant pool and welcomes candidates of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, disability or age.  Candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply.
