6 Degrees Dance Monthly Affordable Class Series

Six Degrees Dance's affordable class series is designed to connect with new artists and offer affordable classes to our community. Come dance with us on November 4 from 4:30-6!

This class, taught by Artistic Director Cecly Placenti focuses on embodied awareness. In this session, dancers will share kinesthetic statements and responses, bearing witness to the essence of other movers, absorbing their ideas, and reflecting those ideas back while adding new impulses. Class will consist of a warm up, guided improvisation, partner work, and a phrase dancers will then use to distill and reflect its movement essence. In this way, participants will explore the innate movement signatures of others, try them on, and offer embodied feedback while enhancing their kinesthetic awareness and engagement with others.

Cecly Placenti (BFA Montclair State University; M.A. New York University) approaches dance making with the belief that the contribution of the individual benefits the group, and results in a body of work reflective of the sum of its parts. Six Degrees Dance creates work through dialogue, research, and a variety of improvisational and creative tools that continue to evolve. With this montly class series, Cecly wishes to offer professional dancers a different experience from the open technique classes we are all already taking- a space to explore, play, connect, and engage in creative practice together.

Location: New York Live Arts

Cost: $10 (Venmo, Cash, Zelle)

Classes will be held the first Saturday of each month.
