PINOCCHIO is an exciting, dance-heavy re-imagining of the original children’s story performed by professionals in a style intended for a young audience. Pinocchio is a wooden puppet who longs to be a real kid. They leave Papa Gepp’s workshop and wreak havoc everywhere! On Pinocchio’s journey, they meet a cast of colorful characters like a sneaky fox, a crafty cat, and a giant fish! With the help of Lady Blue, a wise cricket, and you, will Pinocchio make smart decisions and become a real kid?

We are looking for a cast that reflects the diversity of New York City and is capable of telling this classic story through dance. Pinocchio is consciously casting roles with a focus on diversity, and holding space for physical story-tellers of all kinds.

New York City Children’s Theater is a nonprofit theater company devoted to producing original theater works for families. The mission of NYCCT is to promote children’s literacy and social development through accessible professional theater productions and arts-in-education programs.

We reach children and their communities with a wide range of programming, including full-scale productions, small touring shows, interactive workshops, and in-school residencies, and engage with them in traditional theater spaces, school auditoriums, classrooms, and cultural venues in their neighborhoods.
