Borne Dance Company seeks local and diverse talent for their annual Eating Disorder Awareness Event!

Borne Dance Company is a 501c3 non-profit performance company based in NYC, NY and Sacramento, CA with the mission of raising awareness for mental health and eating disorders. Our 9th annual Eating Disorder Awareness Event will be held on Saturday March 2, 2024 at the Teatro Latea, a historic NYC hub for multicultural performing and visual arts located on Suffolk Street in Manhattan. During this event, we share current research, educational resources, and where and how to access life-saving eating disorder treatment. Borne NYC will present new work in addition to showcasing local artists. Proceeds from this event will benefit the National Alliance for Eating Disorders.

We are hosting a two-show event (4:30pm and 7:30pm) and are seeking diverse talent in the spirit of mental health, body positivity, and eating disorder awareness. We are looking for dancers, poets, musicians, circus artists, burlesque artists and more for this event. We are looking for pieces no longer than 4 minutes.

Please email bornedancenyc@gmail.com with your submission, a description of your work and how it relates to our event, and a show time preference (the 4:30pm show or the 7:30pm show). Please also indicate if you would be open to performing in both shows. Submissions to be considered for this event will close on February 14th, 2024.

Please note that all artists, no matter what show you are performing in, will be scheduled for tech rehearsal in the early afternoon on the day of the show (Saturday March 2nd), between 12pm and 3pm due to our contract with the theater. There is no monetary compensation for this event, however, artists will be compensated with performance footage and photos from tech rehearsal.
