Boston Work-in-Progress: Call for Choreography

multi-colored background with text reading "Accepting Applications Boston WiP {installment 2}"

Boston WiP is a low stakes platform for dance and performing artists to present movement driven work. This installment will be presented in partnership with SomArt @ the Hive! We invite all forms of movement driven performance from artists at any stage of their professional career to apply. Given the capacity limitations of the space we will be hosting two back-to-back shows to accommodate a larger audience.

Show Date: April 6th, 2024
Show Times: 6pm and 8pm
Tech: April 4th, evening

Guidelines:
*Run time of the work should be a minimum of 2 minutes and a max of 10 minutes.
*Choreographers may not be enrolled in an undergraduate program. Undergrads performing in a work by a professional choreographer/company are welcome.
*The work should be new or recently re-imagined. We are intentionally holding space for unfinished/in-process work.
*Applications are due by February 18, 2024 at midnight!
*You will be notified about invitations to participate by March 1, 2024.

What to Expect from Boston WiP:
*An evening of new/re-imagined performance work held at SomArt @ the Hive, 651 Windsor Street Suite 401a, Somerville.
*Each artist will receive lights up/down and sound.
*Space includes a green room/changing room for performers.
*A small choreographer's stipend for participation (based on revenue generated from ticket sales; stipend estimated to be between $50-$100)

Expectations if selected:
*We ask that you stay as close to your proposed length as possible.
*We will ask for one photo (JPEG or PNG) to include in our program and to use as promotional material for marketing purposes.
*Projections, props, small set pieces are considered on a case by case basis. Choreographer/performers are responsible for their own load in and out of all materials.
*The choreographer/s and a majority of the performers should be available to attend a 20 minute tech/spacing on Thursday, April 4, 2024 (tech/spacing for out-of-town choreographers selected to present will be held same day as the show)
*We hope you will help us promote this event to your community and invite your friends, loved ones, and fellow artists to the show.
