Cora Dance Seeks Staff and Human Resources Management

CORA DANCE GENERAL MANAGER, STAFF & HUMAN RESOURCES: 

Through its professional company and two education centers, Cora Dance provides exceptional dance experiences while addressing inequities that restrict access to the art form. Cora is seeking to fill the new part-time position of General Manager, specifically overseeing Staff and Human Resources organization-wide while providing on-site General Management support on the Cora Dance Brooklyn campus in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Cora Dance Brooklyn (CDB) provides free and pay-what-you-can recreational, pre-professional, and professional dance education programs in Red Hook, Brooklyn. CDB works in partnership with the professional company, Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance; Cora Dance Alleghany, Cora’s rural center in the Appalachian Mountains for VA; and other professional and community arts-based organizations to provide exceptional dance experiences that give opportunities for diverse people to find common ground. The Staff and HR Manager will support employees across the CDA, CDB, and SHCD hubs. Strong candidates will possess experience in human resources and staff management, working in diverse settings that address equity; and be passionate, detail-oriented, highly-motivated collaborators with a sincere desire to work cooperatively with community partners, faculty, and staff. Job Description: 

- Serve as the point person for reviewing and updating governing organizational materials including but not limited to employee manuals, handbooks, personnel folders, policies, procedures, and the like to ensure legal compliance; 

- Serve as a team leader and point person for concerns for the administrative staff, working closely with the Co-Directors to assess, troubleshoot, and implement methods to address concerns; 

- Create and manage administrative staff schedules, organizational calendars, company organization spreadsheets, and contact directories; 

- Coordinate agendas and facilitate weekly staff meetings, annual retreats, and other internal staff-related events and professional development opportunities geared toward internal communication, increased efficiency, planning, and the like; 

- Create employee contracts and oversee their compliance; 

- Manage all aspects of hiring including job postings, scheduling, and managing interviews, candidate follow-up, contract creation and compliance, and the like; ? Manage onboarding and offboarding procedures, personnel training, and performance reviews; 

- Work closely with the finance and operations staff to provide support for on-site facilities, finance management, and general duties related to the fiscal solvency of the organization and its day-to-day operations. 

Desired Qualifications: 

- Independent, consistent, motivated, punctual, highly organized, and 

collaborative; 

- Experience managing teams and coordinating logistics and scheduling for multiple projects simultaneously;

- History of solid non-profit administrative work with experience in Google platforms is a must; 

- Desire to work in a fast-paced, grassroots, arts, youth, and 

community-service-oriented environment; 

- Enthusiasm for and comfortability with diverse populations of artists, community members, organization and community leaders, families, youth, and audience members; 

- Keyboarding proficiency of 50+ wpm; 

- Experience with coordinating groups and overseeing their progress; 

- Must be able to climb up and down a flight of stairs - Cora’s office is on a second-floor walk-up without an elevator; 

- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must; 

- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required. 

Compensation & Hours: 

- Part-time salaried, non-exempt. 

- Annual salary: $20,000- $22,000 based on experience; 

- Three weeks paid time off after 6 months of employment; 

- 18 in-person hours per week; Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 12-6 pm, generally; 

- Occasional availability at other times may be required.
