Production Manager

 

Job Description:

The Production Manager/Technical Supervisor serves as the key point person for technical and production aspects of between wave and water, a site-specific performance scheduled for September 28th 2024 (Rain date September 29th). They are responsible for advancing all technical aspects of production at the sites (Drake Park and Hunts Point Landing, Bronx NY) including communication with the Artistic Director (Alethea Pace), Producer (Dria Brown), Project Manager (Kenia Rosete), Sound Designer, crew, vendors, etc.

 

Responsibilities:

Review site-specific technical specs with Artistic Director and Producer

Create technical schedule and crew calls for September 2024 performance

Develop and manage production inventory by monitoring and maintaining supplies, researching and comparing suppliers' goods and services, and tracking and reconciling related expenses.

If equipment rentals are required, consult with the Artistic Director regarding the budget and coordinate with local venues to secure the necessary equipment.

Coordinate and schedule equipment logistics, including load-in, load-out, packing, and unpacking, with in-house staff as well as any outside vendors and carrier companies.

Manage the movement of equipment to designated areas within the walking tour portion of the performance, with the support of the crew, starting at Drake Park and ending at Hunts Point Landing.

Manage the installation of various production elements

Generate individualized technical paperwork as needed for each venue and submit according to venue’s deadlines

Lead production meetings between Artistic Director, venue staff and participating partners, representing the production aspect of the engagement.

Participate in company bi-weekly meetings with Artistic Director, Producer and Project Manager as necessary to provide updates 

Maintain regular communication with Artistic Director, Director of Production and Project Manager about any artistic or design changes needed for the site-specific performance

 

Other duties:

As part of a small team, additional duties may be assigned as necessary to accomplish tasks beyond the scope of this job description. These duties will be subject to discussion and may expand during personnel changes, employee absences, and special events.

 

Qualifications:

Previous experience in production management or technical supervisor roles

A keen attention to detail as pertains to receiving information from multiple sources, prioritizing tasks, and disseminating data to relevant parties

Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals both within and outside of the organization. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written;

A genuine interest and investment to contribute to our culture of camaraderie and excellence by collaborating and problem-solving cross-departmentally

Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work graciously in a fast-paced environment;

Ability to work with diplomacy and tact and remain calm under pressure

Comfort working in a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions, including light rain, summer heat, and in intermittent direct sunlight

Ability to move around each performance station and lift/move heavy equipment

Experience with site-specific work a plus

Must have a US Driver’s License

About performance: 

between wave and water, is a site-specific multimedia performance walk and walking tour app rooted in reclaiming the history of an African Burial Ground in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx. This work, scheduled for September 28th 2024, will travel from the Burial Ground/Drake Park to Hunts Point Landing, activating multiple sites along the way with dance, theater, music and history.
