American Youth Dance Theater, Hip Hop & Jazz Instructor 

Part-Time Position (13-17 hour per week) 

Currently Accepting Applications for September 2024-June 2025 Contract

 

Position Description: American Youth Dance Theater seeks experienced instructor to teach Hip Hop and Broadway style Jazz classes on Monday through Friday afternoons and evenings for the 2024/25 school year. Must have several years of experience teaching children and teens ages 4-18, at recreational through pre-professional levels and be experienced at choreographing polished recital dances. Contract is for September through mid-June.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Principal duties include teaching weekly technique class and choreographing dances for December and June recitals. Related duties include selecting recital music and costumes, attending 3 staff meetings (September, November and May) and completing year end student evaluations.

Classes meet Monday though Friday between 3:00-8:00pm. Exact daily class times will be discussed during the interview process. There are additional time requirements during recital weeks including dress/tech rehearsals on weekday afternoons-evenings and performances on Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings and Saturday and Sunday matinees.

 

Essential Skills & Qualities:

- Minimum of five years teaching & choreography experience

- College or Masters degree in dance preferred, but not required

- Excellent classroom management skills, organizational skills and attention to detail 

- Strong interpersonal skills and team spirit 

 

Compensation & Benefits:

$50 hourly for teaching

$20 hourly for staff meetings & recital hours

401K with profit share vested after 1 year

New York City Sick Leave
