ESTIA Day Fest-Fall 24 ARTIST CALL!

Moment from Artist Talkback during the last ESTIA Day Fest Ziru Wang

CALL FOR WORK-ESTIA Day Fest Fall 2024!!!

ESTIA Day Fest is a Multidisciplinary, Living Museum Art Experience that brings together creatives of all mediums and calls them to explore their own understanding of home in a space of immersive collaboration.

ESTIA draws inspiration from the Greek goddess of the home reflecting an energetic source of light, warmth and refuge and is based on a creative practice of examining how our bodies function as archives, synthesizing stories from our past and guiding us in the re-imagination and co-creation of our collective futures. It is initiated by the belief that our own bodies/archives deeply store memories, histories and traumas and through the analyzing, deconstructing and unfolding of our archives is how we move efficiently forward as a community and collective. Through our festival we are hoping to amplify various forms of storytelling exploring these concepts in literal and metaphorical ways through various mediums!

WHO WE ARE:

ESTIA Creative Home is an ecosystem of the arts that fosters collaboration between artists from all disciplines and connects them to new audiences by producing performance and educational opportunities around the NY area. It was founded in 2022 by Lydia Perakis & LOLA, and has ever since presented multiple festivals, variety shows and community classes. ESTIA events are rooted in sustainability and community and are an ecosystem of reciprocity. The circular pattern includes the ESTIA team sourcing funding to support artists when they show and practice their art. Artists then employ collaborators and present a meaningful body of work that gives back to the community. We pride ourselves in the fact that most of our events are fully self-produced with support of grassroots donations and collective volunteered effort. Finally, ESTIA has no limitations in the art forms it presents and completely dismantles any hierarchy, systematically placed on what art forms carry more value than others.

OUTLINE OF THE DAY:
Events will be happening throughout the festival run time in various spaces simultaneously including visual art installations, movement installations, live music performances, films projections, spoken word readings, physical theater and etc. The audience will be wandering around the spaces in a live museum format and will eventually sit down for a stage performance starting at 8pm. The seating around the stage is in a 360 format (meaning it will not be proscenium view). After the stage performance there will be a talk back and a chance to mingle.

GUIDELINES:
-WE ARE PRIMARILY LOOKING FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTISTS WHO CAN PRESENT MULTIPLE BODIES OF WORK
For instance that can look like a dancer who presents a piece at the stage section, but also has projection work they want to showcase in the installation portion of the day and has a small jewelry business so they set up a vending table and sell their handmade jewelry during the event. We will be prioritizing people who can bring multiple forms to the festival or are open to being paired up with other ESTIA creatives to collaborate and co-present additional works together (besides the original one they apply with). As mentioned, this is a multidisciplinary festival so we want that to be truly highlighted in the artists we curate.
-PREVIOUS ESTIA PARTICIPANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!
We love amplifying already existing members of our community so that we can continue to build stronger relationships and a sense of consistency in presentation opportunities. We will be reserving a select number of slots to returning artists alongside the NEW artists we will be featuring
-We really encourage artists to become playful with the space, really activate it and try to utilize every nook and corner of the venue including: the sidewalk, multiple studio spaces and two different stages. Props, strong visuals and outside of the box presentation of more conventional forms are highly encouraged!

COMPENSATION:
Each participating artist (or company) will receive a flat rate of $100. Additionally, all participating artists receive professional photos and footage of their works without any charge and 2 complimentary tickets to any of our ESTIA Variety Shows.

COMMUNITY:
ESTIA Day Fest deeply encourages community and strives to create a space where participants get to make new artistic connections that will hopefully flourish into future collaborations between our artists (as it has happened many times in the past). In the form below you have the option to select whether you'd like to be paired with another artist prior to the festival and present something together (it will be up to you to choose in what ways you'd like to collaborate).

ACCESSIBILITY:
BK Art Haus is an ADA accessible venue. ESTIA's team would like to welcome all artists to become a part of our festival and are happy to make any accommodations or adjustments as needed to make our event more accessible to everyone. Please feel free to email us with any requests at estiadayfest@gmail.com

This event is made possible with the Local Arts Support award from the Brooklyn Arts Council!
Looking forward to reviewing your work! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
