ACCENT DANCE NYC is seeking experienced Latin Dance Teaching Artists for placement in Fall 2024 and
next year in dance residencies in NYC Public Schools, and in lower Westchester. 

We have a specific immediate need for a teaching artist to start in the fall semester, on Friday mornings, 2 classes back-to-back, from 8:05-8:50 am and 9:00-9:45 am.  Elementary School is in the Bronx. 

 
ABOUT THE POSITION: Latin Dance Teaching Artist will lead in-school or after-school dance residencies/
programs ending with a culminating performance in public and charter schools in NYC, as well as at
community organizations in lower Westchester.


QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE:

-1 to 3 days per week available between 8am-3pm (in-school programs) and/or 2:30pm-6pm (after-school programs) for placement.   As stated above, we have a specific immediate need for a teaching artist to start in the fall semester, on Friday mornings, 2 classes back-to-back, from 8:05-8:50 am and 9:00-9:45 am.  Elementary School is in the Bronx. 

-While Accent Dance NYC is always interested in Teaching Artists of all dance disciplines, at this time, we are looking for someone who specifically has experience teaching LATIN DANCE – Salsa, Bachata, Tango, Merengue, etc.

-The ideal candidate would be fluent in both English and Spanish. Candidates should have experience teaching in NYC public schools (or similar settings) with elementary, middle, and/or high school populations.

-Candidates should be fingerprinted
with the NYC DoE.

-PAY RATE: $100/hour + depending on experience.

concert dance performance. We offer educational programming featuring a wide range of dance styles from hip
hop to ballet, West African dance, Afrobeat, step, salsa, tango, modern, creative movement, dancemaking and
beyond. Through our four signature education programs - Dance Education Residencies, Educational Dance
Performances, Family Engagement Workshops, and Master Classes – our programming encourages the
appreciation, study, and amplification of diverse cultures, histories, and identities. Our Accent Dance NYC
company is a multidisciplinary concert dance company committed to exploring the artistic, cultural, and
humanistic connections among people of all backgrounds.

• Detailed CV including TEACHING RESUME, highlighting LATIN DANCE teaching experience
• One or more teaching videos, preferably teaching some kind of LATIN DANCE
• Brief sample LATIN DANCE LESSON PLAN setting forth a successful dance lesson (45-60 minutes)
and indicate what age/grade it is targeted for
• Brief cover letter in the body of the email highlighting the following:
• Interest in Accent Dance NYC’s mission and teaching dance in public schools and community center
settings
• Brief summary of dance teaching expertise, such as “I have 4 years’ experience teaching Latin dance in
schools and also have experience teaching African, Hip Hop and Ballet.”
• Note your current and upcoming availability based on the schedule above, such as “I am available
Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays between 8am-6pm.”   Additionally, please let us know if you are specifically available to teach as follows: Friday mornings, 2 classes back-to-back, from 8:05-8:50 am and 9:00-9:45 am.  Elementary School is in the Bronx.
