Seeking Interviewees for Harvard Sociology Thesis

Recruiting dance workers in New York City: Respondents will participate in a short, 1-hour interview for a thesis for the Harvard sociology department. Adrienne Chan, a senior at Harvard College, is studying performing artists' class identification, their working conditions, and their involvement with labor movements and organizations like the American Guild of Musical Artists. She hopes that her thesis will lead to a better understanding of labor in the performing arts and how activists may build solidarity for collective bargaining. For your time, she will offer a $20 Amazon gift card or via your preferred payment method. As for confidentiality, unless you choose to be identified by name, she will not state your name in the final research paper, and all identifying details will be removed.

If a shorter, 30-minute interview is preferable, Adrienne would be happy to accommodate that with proportionate compensation.

Ideal participants are freelance dance artists and/or dancers in companies—no union or organizing experience necessary.

Please email adriennechan@college.harvard.edu if interested!
