K-5 SEL & Mental Health Through the Arts Program Facilitator

Job Overview:

Erin Pompa LLC is seeking passionate and experienced Facilitators that have experience working with grades K-5, a background in Dance, the Arts, SEL and Mental Heath to deliver innovative and engaging programming to Public Schools. Facilitators will be responsible for implementing a creative movement curriculum for grades K-3 and a mental health-focused arts curriculum for grades 4-5. These programs integrate social and emotional learning (SEL) with dance and arts to promote students' self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and overall well-being. Facilitators will also undergo professional training to align with program objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery:

- Facilitate Character Move sessions for grades K-3, focusing on integrating creative movement with SEL principles across 10 sessions per class.
- Facilitate Becoming a Mental Health Warrior sessions for grades 4-5, using dance, writing, and art to promote mental health awareness and resilience across 10 sessions per class.
- Implement activities that encourage self-expression, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions among students.
- Lead students in creating and performing group projects that reflect their learning and personal growth.

Training & Development:

- Participate in approximately 10 hours of training at $20 per hour to prepare for program delivery and align with the curriculum’s goals and methodologies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices in SEL, arts integration, and student engagement.

Classroom Management:

- Dynamic and captivating with students and in the classroom.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with different learning styles and abilities.
- Collaborate with program director to schedule and plan sessions according to the proposed schedule.

Student Engagement & Support:

- Foster a positive and empathetic relationship with students, encouraging their participation and creativity.
Support students in developing self-awareness, resilience, and social skills through guided activities and discussions.
- Provide feedback and encouragement to students, helping them reflect on their progress and set goals for improvement.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Arts, Education, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in K-12 education, particularly within dance and arts, is highly desirable.
- Experience in delivering programs that integrate SEL or mental health education is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong understanding of social and emotional learning (SEL) principles and their application in a classroom setting.
- Proficiency in dance, creative movement, and/or visual arts, writing, music, etc...
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to engage young learners in creative activities.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with students, school staff, and parents.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic classroom environment.

Compensation:

Rate for Facilitation: $35 - $40 per class session, approximately 15 sessions.
Rate for Training: $20 - $30 per hour, approximately 10 hours of training.

Schedule:

Start approx. 3rd week in Sept. 2024.
Schedule and Position Pending Proposal Approval.
