Casting Call: Lead Roles for Immersive Cabaret Show – BoneDaddy's Bacchanal

Kinetics with Karley is seeking charismatic, outgoing, and versatile performers to fill lead roles in the immersive theatre cabaret, BoneDaddy’s Bacchanal, inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas. This one-night-only performance blends S&M kink with NYC's iconic queer nightlife, delivering politically-forward erotic satire and spine-chillingly sexy entertainment.

About the Show:
BoneDaddy’s Bacchanal is a one-of-a-kind immersive cabaret experience, where audiences are transported into a world of wicked wonders. The show combines live performances with interactive elements, allowing the audience to choose their own path as they experience an evening of exquisite erotic entertainment.

Roles:
We are casting for the following lead characters and performance styles:

Jack Skellington (Vogue style)
Shock (Gogo dancer/heels dancer)
Zero (Burlesque puppy)
The Mayor (Pop/locking/house style)

*roles are gender non-specific. LGBTQIA & BIPOC encouraged.

Performance Style:

-Comfortable with improvisation and audience interaction, able to confidently engage and guide audience members throughout the cabaret.
-Strong presence in immersive and interactive settings, with the ability to embody a character that is seductive, mysterious, eerie, or playful depending on the role.
-Movement-based performance experience (vogue, burlesque, gogo dancing, pop-locking, house, etc.) is required based on the specific character.

Skills Required:

-Experience in immersive theater and/or cabaret-style performance.
-Comfort with erotic themes and queer nightlife culture and kink knowledge.
-Strong improvisational skills and audience interaction.
-Confidence with social media collaboration (promotional content, behind-the-scenes footage).

Responsibilities:

Rehearsal: Attendance is mandatory for a single 2-hour rehearsal at Madame X.

Rehearsal Date: October 16, 2024
Rehearsal Time: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Location: Madame X, New York City

Show Day Schedule (October 24):

Call Time: 11:00 AM at Madame X
Makeup: Each character will need approximately 1 hour for makeup.
Dress Rehearsal/Tech Run: 45-minute dress rehearsal/tech run before the show.
Photoshoot: The photoshoot will take place during the happy hour (6:00 PM – 7:00 PM).
Open Bar: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Pre-Show: 7:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Showtime: 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Post-Show Duties: 8:30 PM – 9:00 PM, including audience interaction, thank-you's, and social media content capture.

Additional PROMO events: you will receive a free pass to any KwK class and are highly encouraged to attend as many as possible.

Performance Requirements:

-The Dance Artist must learn floor pathways and a specific dance phrase that will be sent prior to rehearsal, and they are expected to memorize it before the rehearsal.
-The Dance Artist must also build movement motifs inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas and continue developing their character outside of rehearsals.
-The Dance Artist is responsible for recording behind-the-scenes footage during rehearsals, makeup sessions, and pre/post-show activities. These recordings must be posted to their social media stories.

Social Media Collaboration:

-Leading up to the show, performers are expected to participate in promotional activities, including social media posts, behind-the-scenes content, and interacting with the event’s followers.
Each performer must pin one promotional post to the top of their Instagram page with the ticket link in their bio.
-Performers are also required to collaborate on at least one shared grid post with @bonedaddysbacchanal and @kineticswithkarley tagged.

Compensation:

Rehearsal Pay: $20 per hour for the rehearsal.
Performance Day Pay: $300 flat rate for the day of the show.
Tips: Equal tip split among all performers.
Discount Code: Performers will receive a $5 discount code for ticket sales and earn 10% of any ticket sold using their discount code.
In-Kind Donation: Performers will receive an in-kind donation valued at $400 for their time spent on character development outside of rehearsals.

Audition Requirements:

Please submit your performance reel (maximum 3 minutes, clown work encouraged), statement on why you'd be perfect for one of the lead roles, headshot, resume, and any relevant experience in immersive or cabaret-style performance.
Character Development Question: Choose two of the following characters—Jack, Shock, Zero, or The Mayor—and describe how you would approach developing them as dance-theater characters. Submit your character development as a maximum of 3-4 sentences or a 1-minute video for each character. Be descriptive of movement motifs you would explore, how you would embody the character physically, and how you would incorporate improvisation or fail-safe responses when interacting with an audience. We want to understand your vision for bringing these characters to life in a way that aligns with BoneDaddy’s Bacchanal.

Deadline for Submissions: September 22, 2024, at midnight EST.
