OPEN CALL: Two dancers for "Till it Tear us Apart" - Cie. Petra Zanki

A work-in-progress of a current production Uncommon Lee

Cie. Petra Zanki is looking for one male presenting and one female presenting dancer for the upcoming "Till It Tear Us Apart" dance production.

I am currently exploring negotiation between two or more bodies and how we relate to others.  As a starting point, I ask myself: What is the truest, purest and most basic form of human relating that I can observe, and that mirrors how capitalism negatively influences our human condition? I chose the need to connect and to be loved as a simple and relatable basic and universal truth. I am abstracting that truth, translating it into danced movement, to observe the various relating types created between two and more bodies and how systems in power condition and influence these relationships. I find inspiration in observing my surroundings: people  navigating magnetic fileds of various relationships in today's NYC, while holding onto what is dear and special: yearning to relate.

This work will require speed, athleticism, and lifting, so conditioning and strength, and strong contemporary, ballet or street/hip-hop combat dance techniques, with experience in partnering, is preferred. Dancers must be available for all rehearsals and performances and have a valid permit to work in the US (till at least June 2025 because of scheduled reprises and Spring performances). Must be comfortable learning from the video.

All candidates will be informed by October 9th.
